strange symbols and cannot update Gravatar picture

  Hi, I am trying to update my profile picture to a newer one, but I cannot connect to WordPress via Gravatar. I am logged in in WordPress, but when I press “Log in via WordPress” at:
  https://secure.gravatar.com/site/login
  it just refreshes that page.
  Also, a lot of thumbnails around WordPress are not visible to me, or look like strange boxes with weird symbols in them, similar to a word document with unknown characters.

  My system details:
  KDE – Platform Version 4.8.4 (4.8.4)
  Iceweasel 38.4.0

  I cannot change anything on my system details, since this is my office terminal and I am not admin.
  What can I do to access WordPress without weird symbols and to update my Gravatar picture?
