Strange things happening with 2017 theme

In 2017 theme the option “Automatically use first image in post” has disappeared!!! Earlier, the image would appear twice, which was corrected, and now this option, which was very elegant, has gone into the air!!!

That option doesn’t appear on every theme. Had you previously seen it with the 2017 theme applied, or had you been using a different theme at the time?

Hi @shahrajivj, I just checked your customizer and at Content Options the “Automatically use first image in post” is there, and I see it is selected. Do you still not see it?

I didn’t find the “Automatically use first image in post” option at Customize > Content Options with the Twenty Seventeen theme applied on a test site before responding here, and I don’t find it today.

Yes there is no such option. But it DID exist earlier. There was some problem with it and it was corrected but now the option itself is out!!!

@shahrajivj, I’m not sure what is going on with that, but it is selected and your site is showing excerpts.
Can you try logging out of WordPress.com and then clear your browser cache and cookies and then log back in and take a look? Let me know if it comes back?

Yes my site is fine, but I wanted to shift one of my blogs to the 2017 theme. Earlier, there was an option “Automatically use first image in post” in the 2017 theme, now it’s not there… It’s a lovely theme, but for this shortcoming. Hmm, so you may have been thinking of a different theme you were using previously. I asked the developers, and they let me know that this feature was not added to Twenty Seventeen.
