Strange traffic to home page/archives

A couple times over the last week I’ve noticed that my stats have been behaving a little unusually. Specifically, there’s been a handful of days where my usual amount of traffic (which is modest) has doubled and it’s all been to my home page/archives. I doubt there’s that many people suddenly interested in my homepage but nothing else. What causes these strange spikes? Thanks!

Something similar happening on my blog too. I’ve suddenly got 662 reads today rather than the 60-100 views I’d normally get. I’ve never had over 200 before. They’re not the home page/archives though – they’re actually spread out with probably 10-20 reads for many of my posts. Weird for sure.
When I checked my summary page, it became more weird as, this week, despite apparently nearly having as many reads today as I did for the whole of last week, it says I’m 10% down on last weeks totals. I think the stats are just not working properly to be honest.

Yeah, that sounds different than what’s happening to me; all my stats are adding up to what makes sense given the unusual traffic. These problems aren’t the end of the world, but they certainly diminish the intent and usefulness of the stats page!
