Strange URL for published article

  Last night I published a piece I’ve been working on for over a week, both on my Mac desktop and iPad. Today I glanced at the URL:

  https://afkimel.wordpress.com/2021/01/02/__trashed-5/ .

  “trashed-5?” What is that? At no point did I ever delete the draft and recover it from the trash.

  Anyone have an explanation? TIA.

  According to our logs, the post was trashed by your account 2 days ago.

  You can change that part of the link by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/permalinks-and-slugs/#identifying-slugs

  Thank you! I assume that since the article is already published, if I were to change the slug it would break the existing link (no redirect). Is that right>

  That is correct, anything elsewhere linking to /__trashed-5/ would need to be changed.
