Streaming Video
-
Hello! I’m looking to create a business website. I’ve found that I can use plug ins to make my site subscription based, however, I cannot find out if I am able to stream videos. I would like to know if this is even possible before I move forward and especially before paying for the business plan. If it is possible, is there a limit to how many videos can be streamed?
Thank you very much for your time,

Hi there,
There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

The sources of video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required – are found here.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/Video shortcodes are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/#video
The VideoPress upgrade allows you to upload videos from your computer for hosting and playback directly within your blog (or on another site you can designate). http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/ However, if you upload them to youtube or another supported video source site then you do not need the upgrade.
The gigya code was previously used as a workaround but now others are reporting it no longer works for them. Example: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/embed-livestream-recordings-not-live-streams?replies=1
