Strike through is red?!

  • Unknown's avatar

Up until recently, whenever I clicked on the “strike through” button on my visual editor, it would loyally strike through whatever word or phrase I desired. It wouldn’t do any weird editing of its own. If I was writing in black and would hit “strike through,” a black line would cross out my word(s). If I was writing in yellow and would hit “strike through,” a yellow line would cross out my word(s). It was only logical!

That’s the way I wanted it, and that’s the way it was.

Now however, for some ungodly reason, someone decided to go and tweak this innocent little button by MAKING IT CROSS SHIT OUT IN RED. I don’t like red text. I don’t like red lines. And I definitely don’t like red text crossed out in a red line. It’s just aesthetically displeasing. If I toggle between the strike through button and font color [A] button enough times, I can get the text to revert back to black, but the line remains red.

This makes me very irate. Please tell me how to fix it?

Oh and if it helps, I think the name of my theme is Stanley Kubrick or something.

Important Notice: I don’t know anything about html. At all. Except that it stands for Hyper-Text Markup Language. And I don’t speak this hyper language. So please don’t give me any suggestions that include forward slashes and/or weird characters in parentheses.

Hi. Don’t rely too much on how your post looks like on the visual editor, because it does not reflect the colors and fonts of the theme you selected.

What does this mean? Even if it strikethrough appears red on the editor, chances are it will be the good old black strikethrough when you hit “Preview” or “Post”. Try it.

You’re lucky this time that you don’t have to go through HTML coding. However, it’s not a good idea to shun HTML right away, because sometimes, it is the only way to work around the restrictions imposed here and there by WordPress.com.

What is appearing on my test blog when published is that whatever the text color, that is the color of the strikethrough line.

The red on the strikethroughs (actually they are del tags) only appear red in the editor and that was likely a change done by the authors of the TinyMCE in the most recent update. Simply ignore the red in the editor. From my testing, the published post will display the strikethrough just as it always has.

Hey thanks for your help! I tried it and you were both right. It’s just a silly trick, created solely to irk me and make me feel stoopid.

Take THAT, red line! *karate kicks to the face and abdomen*
