Strings synchronization and placeholders identification

  • Unknown's avatar

Foreword. I translate both, WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Sometimes I can see identical strings that can be just copied and pasted (that’s what I do in that case). But. Often I see that identical strings are already copied, and there is no information about who did that (only time, so I suppose that it is done automatically). I am Ukrainian translation validator and contributor of WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

    Questions.

    1. Is there any way to automatically synchronize strings?
    2. If yes, does my profile need more permissions?
    3. How can I identify placeholders on WordPress.com?

    Hi!

    1. We copy missing translations from WordPress.org to WordPress.com with every major releases. It should happen relatively soon with 4.3 :) Nothing you need to do on your own, we’ll just take care of it.
    3. Often, we’ll add a translator comment to clarify what the placeholders are. If there’s no comment, and the string is difficult to translate, let us know and we’ll clarify and/or add a comment.
