Stripe Error
-
Hi
We are having several payment problems for our wordpress based e-commerce site (retroar.com). Users cannot process their payments. The error message they are getting is: “You have passed a blank string for ‘card’. You should remove the ‘card’ parameter from your request or supply a non-blank value.”
I contacted Stripe support and they advise me to contact WordPress support.. and I will just go ahead and copy and paste the conversation log here.
Jason
This sounds like it may be coming from your website. I’ll take a look at your account, to see if there are any errors that will help.Nate
any help is very appreciated.. we are losing $$ as we speak..
sure.. pleaseJason
That error is actually coming from Stripe, but it means that for some reason, WordPress is sending the Parameter ‘source’ with nothing else, and Stripe’s API can’t deal with it.
this is how the request is coming to Stripe:
{
‘amount’: ‘1806’,
‘currency’: ‘USD’,
‘description’: ‘Charge for (email visible only to moderators and staff)’,
‘source’: ”,
‘receipt_email’: ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’
}
For the last charge that worked, it looked like this:
{
‘card’: {
‘number’: ‘************6714’,
‘exp_month’: ’01’,
‘exp_year’: ‘2020’,
‘cvc_check’: ‘240’,
‘name’: ‘Mason Lauderdale’,
’email’: ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’
},
‘amount’: ‘1099’,
‘currency’: ‘USD’,
‘description’: ‘Charge for (email visible only to moderators and staff)’,
‘capture’: ‘true’
}Nate
How can we fix this?Jason
So, instead of credit card information, WordPress is sending over ‘source = [nothing]’
You’ll want to reach out to their support to see why this is happening. Something in their code is doing this. You’ll want to let them no that they are sending an empty ‘source’ parameter with charges, instead of the payment information.Nate
contact wordpress support?Jason
Yes, they’ll be able to help you change that.Nate
awesome.. I will go ahead and do that..

Is it a wordpress.ORG install on paid hosting?
If it is then you are confusing wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting with your wordpress.COM hosted blog. They are not the same.
The only way to resolve issues with woocommerce accounts on wordpress.ORG software installs is to contact the team directly at woocommerce.com. https://woocommerce.com/contact-us/?_ga=1.63687215.180389535.1487007371
If the site is actually hosted by wordpress.COM then to use Stripe it has have a Business upgrade and that means you use live chat support.
Those who have a paid upgrade for a wordpress.COM site can use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
The best WordPress.COM contact form to use now for Staff assistance is:
http://wordpress.com/help/contact. Live chat will be available there only if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/Lastly for direct email support you can email WordPress.COM Staff at:

That site is not on our WordPress.COM servers. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
