*strong* does not work, but *b* works just fine – why?

If I bold text using the WordPress Page Editor, everthing looks good while editing the page. However, when I post the page, the text is NOT bolded when displaying in IE7 browser.
I can circumvent by changing the *strong* HTML tags to *b* HTML and all looks just fine.
Can someone explain what might be causing this… Thanks in advance (especially if this is a STUPID question).

It means that the style you are using does not have the
strongtag styled. Please send a note to WordPress.com through your feedback support link on which Theme you are using and request that HTML tag be styled appropriately. -
