Structure theme grey box

  I am just setting up my blog using the structure theme, which looks wonderful! I even read the special post on how to use the theme and everything. However, I can’t seem to get an image to replace the grey box on the very front of the home page. I have uploaded multiple posts and making sure to include a “featured image”, and nothing seems to make that damn grey box go away! How to I make this work?
