Struggling to delete an old blog from 2011
-
Hello.
I have been trying to close an old blog created using an old university email address, not used since 2013. I have recently contacted the university as an alumni, and they have granted me access to my old email account. Within the old uni email account, I can find some emails from wordpress, stating “Joe Bloggs is now following you” or “New comment waiting approval”, so I know this is the email account that was used to create the wordpress blog.
The problem is, I cannot login to wordpress using this uni email account. I know my username and now know the email address, but not the password, and I am not receiving any recovery emails after I click “forgot password”. I don’t have any of the three “Proof of Ownership” codes asked for to recover the account myself (receipt or transaction ID – nothing was purchased, activation URL or key – no record of this in my uni emails, two-factor authentication codes – these were not a thing when I setup the blog in 2011).
The only thing that may be affecting the fact that I’m not receiving the recovery emails, is that the university has since changed names, and changed email address suffix/domain – it used to be j.bloggs@ucs.ac.uk (for example), which is what I used to make the wordpress account, but now the email has changed to j.bloggs@uos.ac.uk, so perhaps that’s why I can’t login – the university changed from being called University Campus Suffolk to University of Suffolk.
I can prove all the posts on the blog are written by me, and I own the original images, and I can show the emails from wordpress RE comments and follows. There seems to be no direct way to get in touch with anyone at wordpress – they claim to run 44% of the worlds websites, but there’s no one to contact?! Hence the forum post! Please help! I need the blog gone from existence!
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, @rozie12325d0b8b69f! Thanks for letting us know about this.
I checked our records and can confirm that the site you mentioned is not linked to any of the email addresses you shared. If you don’t have the documentation required for our account recovery process, the only remaining option would be to request that the site be made private so it is no longer publicly accessible. You can learn more about that here:
https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#if-ownership-cannot-be-establishedAlso, just to clarify, we do provide support via live chat and email. If you need further help with requesting to make the site private, you can email us directly at help@wordpress.com and we’ll be happy to continue assisting you from there.

@elcristofue Thank you for the quick reply. The email addresses were examples; the actual email address are (email visible only to moderators and staff), now (email visible only to moderators and staff). Please let me know if either of these are the email address on your records, and hopefully we can get it taken down. Tom

Hello again, @rozie12325d0b8b69f! You’re welcome!
After checking, I can confirm that none of the email addresses you shared are linked to the account associated with the site you mentioned. In this case, if you’re unable to verify ownership through our account recovery process, the only available option would be to request that the site be made private:
https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#if-ownership-cannot-be-establishedSince this is a public forum, if you’d like to proceed with that request, please feel free to email us at help@wordpress.com, and we’ll be happy to assist you privately from there.

@elcristofue Last try, email could have been (email visible only to moderators and staff)
I have never owned any other email accounts. If this still doesn’t compute, then I will go down the make private route. Thank you.
