Struggling to get Podcast feed populated

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

    I’m struggling to get my Podcast feed to populate.

    I saw a previous comment saying that HTTPS wasn’t allowed on the Image and when I’ve gone back in, I notice the audio files I’ve embedded also have the HTTPS prefix. I’ve manually changed those back to just standard HTTP.

    However, when I’ve used Chrome to examine the contents of my Podcast feed, all the header information appears there, but not episodes with enclosures.

    Have I got the embedding wrong?

    Some guidance would be most appreciated.

    Thanks

    Just thought I would update.

    Looking at the standard RSS feed for my site I can see the Enclosures are added to the blog entries, yet the Podcast category feed remains with only header information.

    Have a look at the Support doc on podcasting. Perhaps that will help to answer your questions.

    If not please do post back here.

    Hello again,

    I’ve re-read the document suggested above and I think I’m compliant with the recommendations.

    This morning I added an MP3 hosted with a different ISP.

    If I add my standard site RSS feed to iTunes it brings down the enclosure for the post with the externally hosted MP3.

    The Podcast category feed remains with header type only information and no post or enclosure entries being generated.

    I don’t know where to check next.

    All a bit frustrating really considering the main reason for the site was to launch a podcast. :-)

    Any further suggestions would be received with thanks.

    Hi there.

    I noticed that you have both a category and tag named ‘Podcast.’ It’s not possible for categories and tags to share a slug. With this in mind, the slug for your tag is ‘podcast,’ and for your category it’s ‘podcast-2.’ Your podcast is associated with your category, and so it’s feed can be found here:

    I’m wondering if you were originally looking up the feed without the extra ‘-2’ in the URL? Let me know if that helps or if you’re still having issues. I’ll be happy to troubleshoot further with you.

    Hi @siobhyb

    That’s one nail hit well and truly on the head.

    I’ve killed off the Podcast category and called it shows. Reset the settings for media and all has burst into life.

    Many thanks for your eyes on this one.

    You swift response is appreciated and sees WP.com achieve a Gold Level support standard.

    @siobhyb
    Thanks for the quick assist here. :)

    You’re welcome! :) Glad we got to the bottom of that.

    @siobhyb thank you, Excellent!

    And although I couldn’t find it, is there a mention somewhere about using the same word as both a tag and a category and why it should be avoided? The above thread is the perfect example and maybe a troubleshooting section about it would be appropriate for the Podcasting support doc?

    That’s a great point, @justjennifer! I’ll add reviewing the troubleshooting section of the documentation to my task list. :)
