Struggling with 2 domains
-
Hi I had a wordpress domain that I was using for quite some time – https://boardroomchic.wordpress.com/ . Around a year ago, I purchased a domain from hostgator http://www.boardroom-chic.com and I hired someone to migrate my wordpress content to the new site. The problem now is that I still my old wordpress blogsite is still active, gathering comments and likes for older posts while my new site is just sitting there gathering dust . Any new blogpost published on the new site does not reflect on the old site – is that how it should be cos both the sites are hosted on wordpress I think. I also observed other fellow bloggers with their custom domains have hosted it in such a way that though their blogposts appear on the wordpress feed, when I click them it opens up to their own domain page , unlike in my case. I am not too technical. Any suggestions on what is recommended to fix this? I am worried that it might be affecting my SEO.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Divya,
Your site http://www.boardroom-chic.com/ isn’t hosted on WordPress.com whereas https://boardroomchic.wordpress.com/ is hosted on WordPress.com.
Both your sites are not linked in anyway. So changes made on one site won’t be reflected on other.I also observed other fellow bloggers with their custom domains have hosted it in such a way that though their blogposts appear on the wordpress feed, when I click them it opens up to their own domain page , unlike in my case.
WordPress.com allows you to host a custom domain if you purchase any of Personal, Premium or Business upgrade plans. So bloggers who’s content appears in WordPress feed have blogs hosted on WordPress.com.
Also, there can be a case where bloggers might have mapped their domain with WordPress.com which results in their posts appearing in WordPress feed, I am not sure about this though.I am assuming you want to get your followers from https://boardroomchic.wordpress.com/ site transferred to http://www.boardroom-chic.com/ site.
To do so follow this documentationhttps://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/#wordpress-com-to-self-hosted-site
If you want to use your http://www.boardroom-chic.com/ site with WordPress.com you can map your domain.
Follow this documentation
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/For mapping a domain it’s mandatory to buy an upgraded plan https://wordpress.com/pricing/
