Struggling with subheadings
-
Hi, so I’m new to wordpress so please excuse my beginner vibes showing through, but I’m having a problem with my subheadings.
Essentially, like most blogs, I want to be able to post a blog post, have it show up on my home page and then also within it’s category.
I have three categories that I’ve made: Reviews, Travel and Words of wisdom (however, there are two others within words of wisdom, those are careers and relationships).
I’ve got the headings set as pages on the blog, made separate categories with each of the matching blog names, but I haven’t managed to link them together so that articles under the category reviews (for example) show up under the reviews tab.
I hope this is clear and that someone can help, I’m really confused!
THANK YOU

Hi there,
It sounds like you’re trying to customize your main menu with category pages.
Try opening the Customizer and go to your Menus. Select Primary Menu and Add Items. It’s important that you select Categories that you created to add to your menu. It has to be a category and not a page.
Save it, and you should see all posts relating to each category show up on the page when you click it on the menu. Here’s a helpful guide with screenshots to make it easier to understand: https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions :)

Hi! Thanks for your help.
I’ve just done what you said, but for some reason it still isn’t working? Is there any way I can contact you to send photos? As I’m not too sure what I’ve done wrong.
In my Primary menu, there is the home menu which was automatically set as ‘custom link’, then the about me menu is a page, but words of wisdom, travel and reviews are now all categories? I have one blog post listed under words of wisdom, but it doesn’t show up?
My contact me part is set as a page? I’m not too sure where I’ve gone wrong.
Also I’m not too sure how to include sub-headings as categories? or how to link them to the parent menu, which in this case would be words of wisdom.Sorry this is such a simple problem, and that my language may be a bit convoluted, I’m not too sharp on these kinds of topics!
Thank you, please help if you can!

Hi there,
I just looked at your site and your menu links are still linking to pages, not categories.
For example, “Words of (some) wisdom” is linked to a page: https://rosietintedviews.wordpress.com/advice-from-a-trying-adult/
and not to:
https://rosietintedviews.wordpress.com/category/words-of-some-wisdom/The second one is the link you need in order to display posts listed under words of wisdom.
Go back to your Customizer -> Menus -> Primary Menu
Delete current links that are not linking right, and add Categories (See Screenshot- https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/)Also I’m not too sure how to include sub-headings as categories? or how to link them to the parent menu, which in this case would be words of wisdom.
You can include sub-headings the same way, drop-down menu item drag and drop it again, this time to the right, so it indents beneath the main menu item.
See this helpful guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/. There is a video there explaining in more detail.
Remember to click Save and Publish.
Hope this helps and let me know if you need more help :)
