Stuck importing from tumblr
-
So, I decided to back up my tumblr blog to WordPress. It went smoothly enough yesterday, importing posts in the background for a few hours. Then it reached the very last post and it has been stuck there for about 24 hours. It still says it is “in progress” and the little wheel keeps spinning. Should I try and wait it out or should I give up and restart the whole process?
Thanks in advance!

After 24 hours of being stuck on the “last post,” it is safe to say the import script has timed out or hit a “zombie state” where the wheel spins but no data is moving. This often happens during Tumblr imports because the final step involves the server trying to verify that every single image and video was successfully mirrored, and a single broken link on Tumblr’s end can keep the process in an infinite loop. You should not wait any longer; instead, you should cancel or refresh the process, as WordPress is designed to recognize existing posts and will not create duplicates if you have to restart. To fix this, first refresh your Posts page in the dashboard to see if your content is actually all there; if the numbers look correct, the importer just failed to send the “Success” signal, and you can simply ignore the status. If significant content is missing, navigate back to Tools > Import, stop the current process, and start it again. WordPress will “skip” the posts it has already successfully imported and focus only on the missing pieces, which usually pushes the process past whatever specific file was causing the original hang-up.

Hi, @fandomsock777. I just reset your importer so you’re welcome to try it again. And if things get stuck one more time, please let us know!
