Student cannot register for WP or class blog

I have a student who, every time they try to register for WP cannot get beyond the registration page. They submit an email address, get a user name, and establish a password but when they hit the button it simply returns them to the registration page – without an indication of success or failure. I tried to invite them as an author on the blog above but registration via that email failed as well. They have tried on their phone, on their computer, and on my computer with two different browsers. Help

I will ask them to overwrite the username WP assigned based on their email address and get back to the forum, thanks.

Nah, I’ve asked them – via email – to try to register again. I think what may be happening is that the registration page sets the student’s username to the student’s university email prefix – already in use somewhere, somehow – and, hopefully, overwriting the registration page’s suggested username will allow registration to proceed accordingly. When we worked together on it, WP never indicated that the problem was a username already in use.

WP does not indicate when a name is already in use, it just fails the registration process. That’s just the way they communicate.
