Student unable to view class WordPress site
-
I have set up a WordPress site for a course that I’m teaching. The students will be using the website as a blog for periodical writing practice.
The site is working perfectly fine for one of my students, but the other one is unable to view the page. He is receiving an error message from his browser (Chrome) claiming the connection is not private. What’s really confusing is that he is able to enter the Dashboard and create posts. But he cannot read any of his classmate’s posts.
We’ve tried fixing the issue in the student’s browser settings, but he is still unable to view the page. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it possible the issue can be addressed through the WordPress settings?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

How are these students added on your website – com2100winter26.com ? ( I hope that is the correct website ) ? Are they added as
Author,Editor, or as what role?If the student is added as an author, they will not be able to see posts of other authors/ students, unless those are published.
At the face of it, the issue seems local to the student’s browser since it seems to work well for the other student.
Can you check if the student has any ad blockers and ask them to disable it, and restart the browser?

Clearing his browser cache and cookies solve this problem most of the time, as your site has a secure connection.

Hi @kfriedlander72df6f31d9, I understand how frustrating those issues must be, and I’m happy to help you resolve them.
[1. … but the other one is unable to view the page. He is receiving an error message from his browser (Chrome) claiming the connection is not private.]
a. What page is he unable to view, the course page?
b. Have they tried testing with a different browser? If yes, was the outcome the same?
You may want to check with the steps in this quick troubleshooting guide: https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/[2. Is it possible the issue can be addressed through the WordPress settings?]
As long as both students have the same user role, it’s unlikely. However, let’s not rule anything out without confirming. Let’s first address the browser-related possibilities. Please let me know how it goes or if you have any question along the way.

Thanks for your replies!
@nagpai – The students are currently added as Authors. I have told them that they will need to hit “Publish” on their blog articles in order for their classmates to read their posts. Good suggestion about ad blockers! I’ll ask the student about this tomorrow.
@staartmees – Good suggestion re: cookies and cache. I’ll ask the student to clear those in class tomorrow to see if it makes a difference.
@israelmartinsrt – the student is unable to view the actual main blog page https://com2100winter26.com/ as a reader (but can access the author dashboard). Thanks for linking me to the support page! We’ll definitely try some of those suggestions in our next class.
I’ll let reply in a few days to let you know if we resolve the issue. Thanks for the help!
