Students banned from registering
-
I found this & it suggests that we can “let (you) know (our) school’s IP address a few days ahead of time, and we’ll try to prevent it.”
But how & who do I contact? I am supposed to have all the incoming students register for a blog, but we’re blocked now.
Also – any idea how long the block lasts? I have 16 more sessions of 8ish students scheduled this week…
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello!
I too am a teacher. I too also use WordPress in my classroom.
I will tag this for a staff follow-up. Please make sure you subscribe to the link below. Please also, be patient as it make take sometime for staff to catch-up on any backlog as they respond to request in the order received. -
For the WordPress Staff:
Might you consider a specialized contact form for teachers to contact you regarding future events of the above scenario?

Can you please let me know your school’s network IP?
To give some background, the system blocks multiple singups from the same IP address, which usually only comes from spammers and students all registering their blogs at the same time.
Obviously, we want to allow the students, but we really don’t want the spammers here either.
If you let me know the IP, we can whitelist it so it won’t be blocked.

No, I need your school’s IP address so I can whitelist it, there’s nowhere special to send the students. :)
You can generally get that from your school’s IT department.

Are all of your students registering from home? If so, they shouldn’t have a problem.
If they are registering from school in the classroom, then there would only be one IP, and that’s when they would run into the problem.

There’s a bunch of them here. They all start out the same and then the last set of numbers is different. ###.##.###.## – so the last two numbers are all different.
I sound like an idiot, I know.

Ah, ok, so the school has a ranged IP, that’s fun. :)
What are the digits which are all the same?
-
I really appreciate your help, but they’ve asked me not to post the IP.
I’ll just switch to using something different for the rest of the week.
Thanks.
