students being locked out for an hour
-
I’m a classroom teacher who is currently beginning a blogging project with six different classes this year. This is the third year for the project but we have encountered a new problem this year. When multiple students try to hit the “create blog” button around the same time, these people all get the same message that tells them they won’t be able to try again for one hour. Does this mean that WordPress some how interprets what is happening as some sort of attack and so gives this message to every request coming from that domain? Is there a way around this? This didn’t happen the first two years we did this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Will do. Thanks for the heads up about it being a known problem and the warning about the wait.

Of course when an army of people all using the same ISP try to register that signals the behavior of spammers … lol :D But, not to worry as Staff will address this when they work their way forward to this thread.

Hi @mrmuir,
Just to clarify, are all the students attempting to create blogs from the same IP address? If so, could you provide that IP? You can find it by visiting the following site:
Also, I’m assuming they all have separate accounts. Is that correct? If so, could you let me know a handful of usernames in your various classes?
