Students in a lab creating a web site
-
I have a classroom of student who I’m teaching to build a web site using wordpress.com ( free) They all have an email etc. When I instructed them to set it up many of the computers came up wit the message that they would have to try again in 60 minutes. One out of the `6 students got through to create his site. He could go on to other computers to work on it. I then had another student try to create a site using the working computer that created the first site and it said they also had to wait 60 minutes, Can you please direct me to someone who can answer why? Is it because students were all coming from same location?

If you have a bunch of people all using the same IP address and trying to do so at the same point in time that is exactly what hackers do to bring down a site. I assume that is why the students have to wait.
I typed modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff response. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. Hi @lawilkie, it is indeed because they all came from the same IP. You can avoid this issue by having the students create the sites a few at a time instead of all at once. Alternatively, you could have them sign up as homework, then work on creating the sites together.
I’m assuming this is resolved by now, but let me know if you need more help with this!
