Stumble Upon Share Button
-
Hi. I just noticed that the Stumble Upon sharing button disappeared from wordpress settings > sharing, (where you drag the sharing buttons you want beneath each post into the box so they display on each post). Is there any way to get it back?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. The Stumble Upon button was removed a few months ago, as they only use http connections while our blogs use https, and keeping that button caused a bunch of security warnings, while on some sites it broke completely.
You can still add the button back by using the Add New Service option. You’ll need to find your own image to use for the button, but you can use the sharing URL provided by staff in this thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/stumbleupon-sharing-button-disappeared?replies=21#post-2359755

Uh oh. Ran into a little caveat. When I add the url (uploaded to my media library), 16 x 16, it shows up super tiny in comparison to the other icons. I’ve tried larger sizes but it stays the same. Any ideas?

Can you give the URL of the image in your media library, please? Then I can check what it does my side.

On my site it also shows the button small. It might have something to do with the button style, or it’s displaying the original size of the icon, no matter how you resize it. Try using a different image entirely, that’s already the right size. It could also be that the dashboard is automatically resizing the image to fit inside the button, in which case I don’t think there’s anything that could be done. Maybe using an image that’s already the same shape your site displays it in.
But I also see your site is a self-hosted site, so you should actually be posting in the WordPress.org forum for help with this. WordPress.com and WordPress.org work differently, so this forum isn’t really the best place for you to get help. WordPress.org might have a way to add that button to your site that can’t be used here, so I suggest you ask there. As the sharing buttons is a WP.com feature you got via the Jetpack plugin, I suggest you ask in the Jetpack subforum first: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack

Please understand I’m not unwilling to help you, but as you’re using a completely different version of WordPress the help I can give is limited. It also won’t help tagging this issue for staff, as they have no access to your site’s dashboard, so there’s no way for them to help you fix this.
I should have checked your site’s hosting from the start, then I could have pointed you in the right direction straight away. Sorry for that :)

Thank you so much, kokkieh, and you DID help me, greatly, by sending me to the link that gave me the proper code to add! For now, the button may be small, but at least it’s there! :)
-
You’re very welcome. But do post in the .org forum. They might be able to help you get it the same as the others.
-
Hmmm..I submit my post in the .org forums (Jetpack and basic troubleshooting) and they don’t show up. I rarely post to the help forums, and have never done anything wrong; so I’m confused.

Did you first register a WordPress.org account? That site is completely separate from this one, so your WordPress.com login won’t work there. You can use the same username there as you do here if you prefer, but you will need to register a separate account for that forum. I’m afraid I can’t help you much beyond that.

Yes, have posted there before too. This is so odd. Logged in without a problem, but when I submit my post, it goes to a blank page and then doesn’t show up in the thread list.
-
It could be a browser issue. Try clearing your cache and cookies and see if that makes any difference. You can also try a different browser.

EEk. Scratch that. It looked like it went through, but it’s still not showing up in the thread list, and when I click reply to it, it doesn’t work :(

I’m afraid I have no more suggestions to offer. I’ve only posted in the .org forums once and that was more than a year ago, so I really don’t know how they work or what might be causing this.
