Stupid questions – can’t be just me.

Is there a place on the forum for FAQs, or ‘blindingly obvious to anyone who isn’t a complete noob’ questions?

To get the best from wordpress.com, you find some tutorials at https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/new-to-wordpress-com-resources-to-get-started/.
You also have the support and documentation section at https://wordpress.com/support/ -
The starter guides are very nice but, for example, how do you get that archive of previous posts down the right side? Not a word about that and I don’t know what the WordPress specific lingo would be for that side list.

You’d probably need to change to a theme that supports a sidebar on the right.

Howdy @evocrim
It’s true that pages on this theme do not have a sidebar option by default, but for the blog that option does exist. Since you are using the blog to power your comics posts, you can add a sidebar without switching themes.
To do that, go here, and click on the “widgets” tab on the left: https://wordpress.com/customize/
Once there, you can set this up using a Heading Block and a Latest Posts block. This is difficult to explain in words, so I recorded a quick video to show you how to add those.
You can view the at this link: https://d.pr/v/WMYA5E
Please note that the blocks will not render in the website preview (within the customizer) but once you save your changes it will show on the live site, to the right of your blog posts.
Give that a shot and if you have any further questions please let us know, thanks!

That’s very kind, I’ll take another look at widgets because I couldn’t quite see where I instruct it to display previous post titles.
Part of it learning the lingo: knowing it’s called a ‘Latest Posts Block’ will be very helpful, thanks.
My background is in HTML design so this is quite different for me. My original question was if there was a pool of newbies’ questions because I have about a dozen others but I imagine they’ve been asked a hundred times already.

There is a box at the top of this page where you can search these forums and also most subjects are covered at https://wordpress.com/learn/

Thank you, Magic Robot, for the reply, I did look at the LEARN resource.
Part of being able to search is knowing the jargon, for example I never could’ve guessed that ‘Latest Posts Block Widget’ was how to get previous posts listed down the side.
