Stylesheet properties display and visibility
-
Just recently the stylesheet properties display:none and visibility:hidden no longer work, and neither does the HTML equivalent for making comments invisible on web pages. Is this intentional, and if not, can someone do something about it ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t use the STYLE-tag on the wordpress.com platform – https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/custom-html-block/#supported-html-tags – unless you upgrade to the Business Plan, https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Until yesterday the use of the style tag was not a problem, and the style tag still works for properties like color or font-weight. Is what you describe a recent change ?

The change in policy (if that’s what it is) could well be an issue for an issue on the following page of the SEWRIGS website :
Site Descriptions
where certain list items have been hidden temporarily with the intention to reveal them again once the right to publish has been clarified. If they become visible prematurely this could become a major point of embarrassment for the RIGS group.

Hi there,
Can you clarify how you are using inline (HTML) styles on your site?
display:noneanddisplay:hiddendo not remove content from the source code of your site (these only affect the visual display) so they do not provide any real security, and the content could easily be seen by Google when they are scanning pages, for example. -
My concern is not with what Google can see or not. Most of the time it’s a matter of temporarily hiding something from the casual visitor with the view of either revealing it at a later stage or erasing it , depending of what decision has been made (the latter applies for the sewrigs site). If I really wanted to hide something properly I wouldn’t be using the style properties in either the div or span tag.

Hi, thanks for replying. It’s likely what you’re describing is related to an existing report we have open about CSS styling like
displaybeing removed; I’ve added your issue to the report too. We don’t have a specific timeline for when it’d be fixed however, but it is being worked on. -

Hi there, just wanted to let you know our engineers have fixed this issue. You should be able to add inline styles as before. If you continue to see any issues can you please let us know? Thanks!
