Sub-Categories – Is it possible?
-
Hi there
I am new to this and am trying to figure out how to set up my navigation. I would like to do sub-categories within categories. For example, if I had “Fruit” as a category, I would like to put “Apples”, “Bananas” and “Pears” as sub-categories. Is this possible? How would I do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there
Thank you so much for your reply. Is there anyway to collapse the sub-categories underneath the main categories. I would like the sub-categories to appear only when the main categories are clicked on. For example, if some clicked on “Fruit” then I would want all of the fruit sub-categories to appear, but not unless that is clicked. Is that possible? Any help would be great.
Thanks much!

you can only show all your categories as dropdown or in full, no dropdown specifically for child categories.

The only solution I’ve had so far is to use CAPS, as in http://jimenarte.wordpress.com. It isn’t elegant, but at least it separates things more or less as I want them and provides a visual difference if nothing else. In this case, I’ve separated, say, ‘PAINTINGS’ from ‘juan lobillo’, for instance. The categories and ‘sub-categories’ still come up alphabetically, which makes them kind of random.

Thanks for the help, I was wondering this as well. That is pretty poor. What point is there in a parent/child category if they aren’t hidden on the blog… What about some kind of add-on to this site, would it be possible another way?

I also tried what was suggested here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=21168 and it looks a lot better though it takes longer.
