  • Hi there,

It’s not possible to assign a custom header to category pages or tag pages directly. These pages are created automatically (on the fly if you will) by WordPress based on the tags and categories in use on your site, and don’t have a featured image setting.

One option you can consider though is to make custom landing pages for your tags and categories. You can do this by creating a standard page on your site, and adding the Blog Posts block:

    WP
Blocks (The Full List) » Blog Posts Block
    5 min read
Use the Blog Post block to insert a list or grid of up to 100 blog posts (or pages, testimonials, or projects) on any page. You can show content based on category, author, or tag, display featured images or excerpts, change the text color, and more. Add the Blog Posts Block To add a Blog Posts block, click the + Block Inserter and search for “blog posts”. Click to add the block to the page

The blog post block is a convenient way to add a list of blog posts, and the block settings do have the ability to filter the output by tag or category. You can use this block to show only the posts under your “healthy & nutritious recipes” category for example.

We show how to work with this block in more detail in our recent webinar here:

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
