When I put in my web address (which i have registered) http://www.game-changers.org.uk it says this is a sub domain. What does that mean? I have registered this web address and want to use it – will i have issues?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You shouldn’t have a problem mapping the domain game-changers.org.uk following the instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Are you seeing an error message when you go through those steps?
-
Hi Jeremey
No you are right I have managed to map it, but the only issue is that when I type in http://www.game-changers.org.uk it immediately changes this to http://www.game-changersdotorgdotukdomcom.wordpress.com and obviously i want the former to appear when people type in the site address. What have i done wrong or what can i do to remedy that?
Thank you very much in advance! And p.s. I am a cyclist also and am doing lands end to john ogroates in september!! Its the best sport! -
Ah – I understand. You’ll just need to change your primary domain on your account to your custom domain here:
https://gamechangersdotorgdotukdotcom.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
That will ensure that visitors see http://www.game-changers.org.uk rather than the WordPress.com URL. Can you give that a try?
As for cycling, I agree; I absolutely love it! Moved from Florida to Colorado a few years back, and I sure had a rude awakening as far as mountain biking goes. There’s actual mountains out here!

Hi Jeremy
So I can now see the right url which is great, but it is now not showing any content at all! I have done some work to ensure that my DNS name servers are pointing at the right content, any other thoughts as to what the issue is now?
Thanks

Hi Georgina!
Currently, this is what I see when I visit your domain:
The site looks like it’s populated with your content. Is this not what you’re experiencing? Can you try clearing your browser’s cache? Instructions can be found here:
-
Hi Jeremy
I have cleared my cache, and still the site looks totally blank . The image you have shown is of my other website which i develop the content for also through wordpress!!!!! AAAAAAh why is this so difficult. Which should be my primary domain? I have tried both. Could we speak on the phone? I really need to sort this out now,, as I am trying to run a business!!

Hi Georgina,
We currently don’t offer support over the phone, but I’m happy to help you work this out through the forum here.
I apologize for the confusion with the screenshot. I was viewing your other blog address (not Game-Changers). Regarding game-changers.org.uk, it looks like the issue here is your name servers. They aren’t set to point to WordPress.com. Rather, they’re set to the following:
ns1.streamlinedns.co.uk. ns2.streamlinedns.co.uk.You can see that here:
http://www.intodns.com/game-changers.org.uk
They’ll need to be set to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM NS2.WORDPRESS.COM NS3.WORDPRESS.COMCan you try setting that at your registrar?
-
Hi Jeremy
Thank you, i have changed the DNS name servers (again) on streamline account so hopefully they are pointing at the right place now – can you check for me? Do i need to change the name servers anywhere else? the page is still blank for me at the moment.
Thanks so much for your patience…..

Hi Jeremy
Just seen that the content is up there now from my wordpress site, but now my email is not working. when i asked streamline how to make my email work they said i needed to point the name servers back to them and that this should not affect the wordpress content!! Who is right? What is going on!! Thanks!! Sorry for all the !!!!! Georgina -
Hi Georgina,
It looks like your domain is now working correctly! That’s good news. Now, regarding the domain, it sounds like you have custom email records at Streamline. Those custom records will only work if the name servers are pointed to Streamline. So, they’re right about that. However, this will affect your domain as it will no longer display your WordPress.com site. So, that’s not an ideal scenario.
The best solution would be to leave your name servers pointed to WordPress.com so your domain continues to function. Then, just move your DNS records over (or duplicate them) at WordPress.com following the instructions here:
This way, your email will work plus your domain will work. Can you give that a try?
