Sub domain Vice subdirectory

I’m getting ready to purchase a domain for our parent company. There are several different arms/focuses off the company. Is subdirectories or subdomains better for this? Is there someone I could call to discuss options?

Hi there,
Can you go into a bit more detail on what you want to do?
Here on WordPress.com subdirectories are used for different pages on the same site. So if your site homepage is at example.com, your About page will be at example.com/about, your contact page will be at example.com/contact, and so forth.
Subdomains are used for an entire site. So you can have your site appear example.com, or you can have your site appear at the subdomain, site1.example.com, another site at site2.example.com, another at site3.example.com, and so on.
In the case of subdomains, note that each individual site you want to link to its own subdomain, will also require its own paid plan to do that.

Connecting example.com to your site, and then having your About page at about.example.com is not possible on a WordPress.com-hosted site.
