Sub domain vs Normal domain

    Hi

I’m not a tech person so I must start with an apology if this is a stupid question.

I have a domain http://www.trolleysaver.com.au which points to my landing page hosted by Unbounce.

I have setup a subdomain here in WordPress for news.trolleysaver.com.au to point to.

My question is – is it possible to have http://www.trolleysaver.com.au point to my webpage and create a link to news.trolleysaver.com.au (my WordPress blog)? How do I get the subdomain only to point here?

    Kind regards,
    Sam

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Sam,

That’s totally possible. :) We have a complete guide with Instructions for Mapping Subdomains to walk you through that process.

The first step is to go to your domain registrar (where you purchased the domain trolleysaver.com.au) and add a CNAME record like this:

    news.trolleysaver.com.au. IN CNAME trolleysaver.wordpress.com.

That will point that news.trolleysaver.com.au to your WordPress.com blog, and then you can add that subdomain to your blog on the Domains page. (If you have questions about how to add that CNAME record, your domain registrar can help you with the exact steps for adding it on their end.)

Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

Thank you so much – works perfectly!

One last question – how do I change the URL when the title logo is clicked? Currently takes me to my WordPress site home, but I would like it to point somewhere else (main non-blog landing page).
    Thanks

    Hi Sam,

Good to hear it’s working for you! :)

how do I change the URL when the title logo is clicked?

Clicking the logo will always bring you back to the front page of your WordPress.com site — there isn’t a way to change that behavior. That said, with the custom menu you set up you can add custom links to your menu that lead to other (non-blog) pages. If you run into any trouble with that, please let me know.
