  Hello, I was wondering about if I need to get my own custom domain in order to launch my website. My friend seems to have launched his website to the public and he told me that he did not need to pay for a custom domain. I currently do not seem to have this option. Launching my website, I am not given the option to use the WordPress.com sub domain

  Yes that is correct. I actually just managed to solve the problem. Once I cleared the search elements, I was able to publish the website successfully with that domain. Thanks for replying!
