Sub-domains?
-
I hate to ask two questions straight away but I was impressed by how quick I got an answer back so I thought I would try my luck again. I was wondering how to get sub-domains?
An example is http://goonlinegames.net/ which has a sub-domain of http://jonathancullen.goonlinegames.net/. I was wondering how to get this. Does it costs anything extra after purchasing an actual domain?
My blog: http:increationgames.com/
Thanks in advance.

You need to setup hosting account with domain registrar. Usually they will allow you to create upto 25 subdomain without any charges. This information is based on godaddy.com, You may have to contact your registrar

Here’s the Support doc on that:

No can do if you bought the domain from wp.com as far as I recall. A cname should be created elsewhere then mapped here e.g blog.goonlinegames.net masking your blog.wordpress.com respectively.

So will I need to cancel my WP domain and buy it through a site like GoDaddy to get the sub-domain then?
-
If it’s still new you may contact staff to cancel your purchase. Let them know with specific detail at http://support.wordpress.com/contact

I got my domain name in June so that’s not really an option. Think I’ll just use godaddy, I don’t mind paying for it again.
One last question though, when I cancel will I be able to purchase the domain straight away from Godaddy, or will I have to wait a while?
-
No need to wait or cancel methinks. You should be able to register at godaddy anytime you please and map the newly bought to your existing wordpress blog so will have 3 addresses (domains) at the same time e.g domain.wordpress.com, domain.net, domain.tld — sounds great, eh?
-
Ah that’s great. Looking forward to getting home to sort this now (Currently at school :P)
Thanks a lot for all everyone’s help :)

Oh sorry, I guess you can only set up one main domain to one wordpress blog (plus still accessible with the original yourdomain.wordpress.com).
-
Uhm well…not quite sure on having multiple domain on one wp blog so better ask staff through contact support to get detail explanation. Happy blogging!
