Sub Headline??

    Hello

    I know I have asked about aligning text under pictures before….but not sure if this is the same so forgive me if it is….
    I have put a photo up of an article, and whilst i dont want the frame around the pic so the caption will be there (I dont feel that looks right, as I have tried it) I do want writing underneath it and set in the centre..(A little more than it is) I cant seem to acheive this

    Any help please?

    Hope the link works so you can see my work, currently only on draft.

    We can’t see post previews; those are only viewable to blog editors and admins.

    What you might want to do if you don’t want to hand-code it is just center the picture and then under it center a line of text. You can make it bold or add colour to it or whatever. If you want to do this for left or right-aligned images, you’re going to have to code it by hand exactly, which is a big pain in the ass.

    Just click the text inside the caption box and then use the alignment button for center on the editor.

    I think what you are saying is, do it manually by hand….? I think I did it the way you are suggesting, and I think I may have managed it…I did the wording underneath and tried to centre it…,.but have had to do it via the space bar….when I tried to include it in with the photo, and centred it that way it ALL went centre, so had to do it manually which is what I presuming you mean?

    Timethief – do you mean with the frame as well, that way??

    @sharon
    This is really not a big deal and every time we try to help it turns into a circus of volunteers posting one after the other and givving you advice you do not comprehend, and also appears to be beyond your skill level.

    You already entered the text your want under the image into the “caption” box when you uploaded the image. In the visual editor click the text in that caption box and click the icon in the editor for “center” alignment of that text withing that caption box.

    P.S. Notice that by placing your mouse on that caption text on any image in Visual mode you can edit it and change it to anything you wish, and change the alignment of the caption text without affecting the image.

    The caption box is gray and it frames the image. It has text under the image. Put you mouse on the the text in that caption box and select it. Now click the “center” alignment icon on the editor. The text in the caption box under the image will center and nothing else will be affected – done!

    You want images with text under them and there are only two ways to achieve this. The caption boxes you do not like or HTML tables.

    If you don’t want a caption box around your images then do not complete the caption field when you upload the image and the image will not have a caption box around it.

    As you do want to have text under your images then the only other choice is to use HTML tables and insert images into table cells and type the captions underneath them . I believe I suggested that in another thread that went on for pages and pages.

    Here’s a link to a post on learning aligning images perfectly by using HTML tables. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/03/24/align-images-html-tables-for-wordpress-blogs/

    So sorry to be a pain TT, and know it is not beyond my skill level….well it may be at the moment, but i am trying very hard to understand what you are saying, so much so that I book mark it all so I can go back to reading it and making notes.

    If it bothers you that much, as much as I appreciate your help (And I have also repeated in other threads) I apologise if sometimes it gets repetitive or something, but if it bothers you, with much respect to you, with you being of a higher level, maybe you should by pass my asking of help and let others answer? That way it wont bother you so much.

    It may not be a big deal to you, but to me and maybe other beginners it is a big deal till we understand and learn and get to know what we are doing then we will look back and think ‘Oh heck that is so easy now to do’

    So like I said, if it bothers you, maybe you should by pass my questions and then I wont bother you and others can give me the benefit of their experience :)

    Thankyou anyway, for all your help upto press :)

    Have you solved your problem or not?

  • Unknown's avatar

    @Sharon:

    a) With all due respect too, in this reply I gave you precise instructions on how to correct the text wrap and the two distorted images you’ve got on your (still) last published post, with lots of explanations following that reply, and you did absolutely nothing. That doesn’t exactly make experienced volunteers eager to help you, does it?

    b) If you want an image with a caption below it but no white frame around them, you need coding for tables in the html editor (as timethief said). We can give you the exact code you need, but not if we can’t see the post in question (as raincoaster said).

    Yes TT think so, thankyou:D and Panaghiostisadam, yep sorry about that, i am trying to keep up with everything, bookmark something, and remember whats been said, so sorry ok?

    I have a problem at the moment, but am finding the solution to it,…as I have a feeling I have heard the solution already.

    Is the coding in the support section anywhere, so I dont need to bother you guys, as at the moment , in some posts I am just experimenting?

    Thankyou anyway for all help so far :D

    If you mean the Support docs, no.

    In its simplest form, the code would be:

    <table>
    <tr><td>IMAGE CODE HERE</td></tr>
    <tr><td>CAPTION HERE</td></tr>
    </table>

    But if the caption is longer than the image, you’ll need an extra command to constrain the total width, plus other commands depending on where you want the image to show up and where you want the rest of the text in relation to it. So, as I said, can’t tell without seeing the post in question.
