There are two “sidebars” in the Unsleepable theme. A right and a bottom. If you have not yet added any widgets to a sidebar, then what you see is a sample display set generated by the theme so you can see what it will look like with widgets.
Just go to appearance > widgets and drag the widgets you want in the right sidebar from the available widget area over and into the “right sidebar,” wait for the dotted outline to appear and then release the mouse button. You can rearrange the widget by drag and drop also.

hmm. thanks for your prompt reply but i’m still confused.
i never had any widgets added before and things were fine. that is, the subpages related to their parent page showed at the top right hand corner of their parent page, not the far bottom. today, when i noticed things had moved, i read through some of the forums and tried adding the pages widget. but when i add the pages widget to the right hand side bar in appearances, it lists all of the pages and subpages rather than just the pages i set to be under a particular page. and just earlier today these subpages, arranged as i wanted, were up at the top. and now they’re at the bottom. i checked and there is nothing in the bottom bar. so that can’t be why they moved down there. when i look at the list of pages, the subpages still have the M dash in front of their title, suggesting they are in fact a subpage.
still baffled.

Ok, I see what you mean. At the top of the right sidebar is a word, “search”. It isn’t a search widget or anything like that.
Go to appearance > themes and remove the “search” widget from the right sidebar. Something is messed up with it. See if the pages stuff corrects for you.

“Search” is the title of the search widget. Its actual search box is pushed down because of a defect in Unsleepable: Unsleepable will handle one row of header tabs only. You’ve added too many parent pages, and the one in the second row pushes the main content to the right, leaving no room for the sidebar items. (If you zoom out so that all header tabs move to the top row, you’ll see that the sidebar gets back to normal.)

thanks. you were right about having too many tabs. how do you know how many tabs a format can handle? experience? thanks again.

You’re welcome. How do I know? Experience and experimenting, as an outcome of my involvement in this forum. You can check these posts of mine to get an idea:

But thesacredpath is more experienced and knowledgeable than me: he just hasn’t happened to notice this detail about Unsleepable.
