Sub- Posts

Is there such a thing as sup posts? In other words, I write weekly reviews for American Idol contestants and wish to have separate posts and commments for EACH contestant – yet still maintain the main link to the entire article. You can check my latest AI Masterclass and see what I mean.

I see that the only alternative is to add separate posts for each contestant, but sometimes the readers like to access the entire Masterclass article, so the first alternative is better.

Sorry if this is confusing, but hopefully someone will get my drift.

    Not as sub posts, no.

We can get a little tricky though. Go ahead and write your sub-posts like you normally do but mark them as Private when you publish them. If you do that, they won;t show up in your blog like the other posts. When you have them done, go back to your main post and add in links to them. That way folks can click through to those posts and see them.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Drmike:

Thank you for your help. Can they comment on them as well, even though they are private posts? I assume they can, but want to make sure.

TYou know what. I don’t remember. I think so though…

    /me needs coffee. :)

Also, will these private sub posts be visible through the feeds? It seems not. Let me know after you have a coffee break! (smile)

From my experience you can not link to private posts. I have tried with several themes and it seems theme independent. I also tried with private pages and ran into the same problem. Here is some of what I found:

Basically make a page and make it a child page of an existing page. You can then “hide” this page if you are not using the page widget (otherwise it will show in the sidebar) and also link to it and comment on it if you turn on comments.
