Subcategories

  Hi, I would like to ask if there is any possibility not to display all the threads and galleries in my main wordpress page. I mean, when I load my wordpress page, I can see all the pages, galleries and notes. Can this be changed to display only one main page with for example welcome text, then to navigate with the categories menu?

  Second question is about Sub-categories. Lets say I have a structure like this:
  -other
  |-other1
  |-other2

  when I list category other i can see everything what is inside categories other1 and other2. I would like to change it to see the things that are only in category other.

  A link to your blog would be helpful, since different themes work differently in regards to this.

  Anyways…

  As to the 2nd question, you can make subcategories show in the Categories widget:
  Go to Design > Widgets, click Edit on the categeories widget, select “show hierarchy”

  As to the 1st question, it is possible to make a static frontpage and have your posts listed on a different page. Note that this will list all posts, you cannot select individual posts or categories:

  I’ve already managed to deal with the homepage but still cant deal with the subcategories :/

  When I click the external category (other) i get list of all items included in categories other and subcategories other1 and other2

  I’ve checked the “Show hierarchy” checkbox in the widget but still no effect.

  Sorry for the language in my blog :) I’m from Poland :)

  Langauge is usually no problem in technichal matters :-)

  I can see that the category hierarchy lists correctly in the URL, but apparently that particular theme does not support subcategories displaying as subcategories (I just previewed my own blog in your theme and my subcategories don’t show either). The only solution is to use a different theme, and send a note to WordPress support. I’m not sure they can or will do anything about it, but there’s no harm in raising the issue.
