Subdomain CNAME is set but WordPress doesn't see it

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

Earlier today, I set the CNAME for blog.transparentcalifornia.com to point to transparentcaliforniablog.wordpress.com. The DNS change appears fully propagated. Checking http://blog.transparentcalifornia.com/ shows it pointing to WordPress.com servers (though with an error message because of the following issue).

However, when I try to pay the $13 to host the subdomain it errors out with “DNS CNAME for blog.transparentcalifornia.com needs to point to transparentcaliforniablog.wordpress.com.”

But, as best I can tell, it already is.

Any ideas? If I tried to purchase the mapping before it was fully propagated, could that still be causing issues for WordPress.com?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I have the exact same issue. I’ve create CNAME for:
    blog.zeddba.co.uk CNAME zeddba.wordpress.com.

But when trying to purchase a domain mapping for subdomain I get the following error message:
DNS CNAME for blog.zeddba.co.uk needs to point to zeddba.wordpress.com.
