Subdomain issue

  • Unknown's avatar

I purchased the $13 domain name option. I did not want to change my nameservers in order to have my wordpress blog url at a subdomain of my domain (wordpress.recycleparty.com) so I added a CNAME record as described in the directions.

Now wordpress.recycleparty.com AND recycleparties.wordpress.com are both hopping back over to my main site (www.recycleparty.com). When I perform a trace route on wordpress.recycleparty.com is does end up at wordpress.com, so something on wordpress is redirecting it back to my www site (or pointing back to my A record)

I tried following the directions at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/ but the field next to the “Add a domain” button would not accept wordpress.recycleparty.com (or any other subdomain) – the only thing it would accept was the naked domain (recycleparty.com). This is the only part of my setup that does not match the directions at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain but I see no way to change it. Please advise.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I just took a look at your site and right now both wpress.recycle.com and recycleparties.wordpress.com are resolving OK (without redirecting to your main site). If you’re still having problems, your browser may be caching old information. You can try checking out your site in a different browser, or you can clear your cache by following these instructions:
