subdomain mapping
-
Hi, I’m really new to this and I’ve created my subdomain and mapped it to wordpress using CNAME and I’ve made it my primary domain in WordPress. When I go to the subdomain blog address though it just shows me the index of directory and I thought it would just point me to the blog site though. Am I missing something or have I misunderstood how this works?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to do a two-stage thing:
1) add the CNAME record pointing to your registered domain (i.e. on your domain provider). Say you registered curiousc0c0.com and wanted the blog at blog.curiousc0c0.com you would add
CNAME blog blog.curiouscoco.com.
2) In the blog.curiouscoco.com domain go to settings->domains and select “add domain” with blog.curiouscoco.com. Pay for the domain mapping upgrade
Note that after changing you CNAME record it might take up to 72 hours for this change to propagate across the web.

It is possible to use a different wordpress.com blog as your main domain, for example I have http://western-hindu.org/ and http://tech.western-hindu.org/. In this case the first stage is done with the Domains->edit dns of the primary wordpess domain and the stage 2 on the secondary. -

Good post by Tandava. I feel I followed wordpress intructions and have set everything up correctly, maybe I just have to wait ?
When I go to my new subdomain address http://blog.themontaukgroup.com, I am getting this odd page.
