Subdomain of a not-registred domain

    Hello,
I would like to map a subdomain of my domain to my blog, which is hosted at WordPress.com. I want to use the subdomain london.diversamenteoccupata.wordpress.com.
    I don’t understand if:
    1) i have to “get pro” my diversamenteoccupata and a subdomain became available automatically (if not, how can i have this subdomain after the registration of my domain?)
    2) I have to “get pro” AND register a new domain too (if yes, how can I convert this last one in a subdomain of the first one?)
    3) Can i register only the subdomain?
    Thank you for your time!
    Francesca

  • Hi there. Your blog URL, http://diversamenteoccupata.wordpress.com/ is already a subdomain of WordPress.com. You can’t add another subdomain onto that. You can also only create a subdomain on a domain you already own, you can’t register a subdomain by itself (in answer to question 3).

Mapping a subdomain only makes sense if you already have a website on a custom domain and then you want to add your blog to that same domain. So, unless you already have a website elsewhere, it makes more sense to simply buy a custom domain and map your blog directly to that domain.

The way you’re suggesting above you’ll essentially have a domain that’s empty and then the blog at a subdomain of that domain. I don’t know if that’s even possible.
