Subdomain taken but inactive

  Our subdomain (nxtbgthng.wordpress.com) was already taken but seems inactive.
  Is there a way to free it?

  Once a blog is deleted, the name is gone forever. You cannot claim it.

  Oops, I meant to say that if someone else is using the name, then the only thing you can do is to try leaving a comment on the blog asking the owner to transfer it to you.

  But sometimes folks are just using it for an account: say to access a private site or to get Jetpack, to the account may in fact be in use.
