Subfolders in Media Library
-
Dearest developers!
Can you add subfolder option for media library so that I dont have to load 1000 images and search through them to find one specific image?
It is very time intensive and puts a lot of stress on my nerves always when I have to do that. For example the banners that i use for my theme are somewhere hidden beyond all those 1000+ images. All the best

And why is everything keeping me from contacting staff and always redirecting me to the public forums?

You are probably aware of this but, sometimes it’s easy to overlook that you can search for images ‘uploaded to a particular post’, when you go to ‘edit a post’ and ‘add media’.. you can choose the option in Media Library of:
All Media Items
Uploaded to this post
Images
Video
Audio
Unattached (to post etc)You can also sort them here by date / month etc… These options are also available at the ‘media library’ and you can list them with all info / or just the picture. I have just started myself to use the ‘search’ tool in the media library as well. (top left) Perhaps always put something like ‘banner’ (or other relevant titles) in the title of the pictures for a quick find.

Regardless of where it is uploaded (as a header, background, featured image, in a post, etc.), it all ends up in the Media Library with no ability to create subfolders. I find that intelligent naming of files really helps me locate a file.
Here’s a method I recommend:
For anyone who works with dozens or hundreds of images on their site, I would suggest creating a site upload folder with sub-folders on your computer’s hard drive and use a naming convention like the post date or post name to name the sub-folder. Inside the folder, I arrange the images in the order I want to upload them and then rename the images with the post name, abbreviated if necessary. It has saved me countless times. -

Very good idea, I’ve worked that way also, since starting to blog.. I have a folder for images used at each website / blog, with subfolders on topic / posting or page.
Have always named my images relevant and exact for each posting, for Google Search Engines to find them, it has been a significant and indispensable practice.
