Subheadings

Hi! I created a post that has a title, subheading, and paragraph blocks but for some reason when the post shows up on my homepage/index page – it shows my subheading as a part of my text preview. I tried to add a subheading block to my index template and to my single post template, but it’s still not showing properly. Plus, now that there is a subheading block in my single post template – my blog pages say “heading” on them randomly as opposed to assigning the subheading I wrote to that block. Hope that makes sense and I hope someone can help because I’ve been stuck for days on this,

    Hi there,

It sounds like this is the excerpt that’s getting pulled through, due to you’re theme requiring one. Here’s more information on the excerpt: https://wordpress.com/support/excerpts/

You can add a manual excerpt in, so you can add the text you want to appear on the homepage here.

The reason the subheading its appearing is because if you don’t write an excerpt yourself, the first 55 words of your page or post will be used in places where an excerpt is required.

Hopefully this helps, feel free to reply here if you need any more help :)
