subject organization
-
I wish to create a multipage blog* – a front page ‘hello’, then a subject per page and then articles that can be commented on in those relevent pages. I added pages but when adding posts I can’t get them to post to the relevent pages. Do I need to be adding subject headings as catagories instead? or am I missing something?

There is not really a slick way to do what you are asking, but you can do it with categories.
Posts will only go onto the main page, which is the only one that dynamically updates. A solution would be to create categories for each of the subjects, and then on your front hello page, put links to those categories. It will take them to the particular category page where the posts will be summerized. When they click on the post title, they would be taken to the full post where they could comment.

just been reading http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages and section on Organizing Your Pages – if I create the main page as homepage and make the subjects as ‘SubPage, or “Child” of the “Parent” Page’ will that work?

There isn’t any way to assign a category to a user-created page, so there is no way to get just those posts onto that child page. The subpage or child could contain the link in the body to the particular category, which would then have the posts, and if you wanted you could include an introduction.

You’re welcome. I am not aware of any themes that have this ability, so it would likely require some serious hacking to a theme.
