  I’m trying to add a subscribe button and I’ve tried it two ways and it didn’t work.

  Hi there,

  Can you please provide the URL of your site for which you are trying to set up a subscribe button?

  If your site is hosted by WordPress.com then you can have a widget for subscribing to blog. Follow this guide to do so.

  If you wish to have a subscribe button embedded on your blog then follow this guide.

  That is my site. I’ve tried to add it to the widget to the sidebar and it doesn’t work. It’ll show that I’ve added it but it’s a grey’d area. Do I have to embed the subscribe button first?

  Hi toryzama,

  It appears that you’re using the theme, Twenty Seventeen.

  If you were able to locate where to add widgets, then you’re more than halfway there. :)

  From there, you selected sidebar (you have the option of footer 1 & 2 too), and then you located the ‘Add Widget’ button and selected the ‘Follow Blog’ option.

  When I replicated those steps, I only had the ‘grey’d area’ for half a second and then the screen to the right went back to normal and displayed the widget on my site. I, then, clicked ‘Save and Publish’ at the top and it saved the widget to my site.

  Have you tried restarting your browser to see if that helps and then trying the steps again or trying a different browser?

  p.s. No, you don’t need to embed the subscribe button first. That’s for use on external sites.

  I checked your site. It is not hosted on WordPress.com, your domain girlinthisworld.com points to Siteground. Based on this info, I assume you are WordPress.org user.
