subscribe button

  I would like to have a subscribe option or button or some sort of link at the bottom of my page so that people who read my blog can choose to follow me and be emailed when I post a new blog entry. I have googled this and tried some things that should aparently work but I just cant figure it out. thank you for any help you can give.
