Subscribe by email widget not showing in sidebar

    I can’t get the subscribe by email widget to show up in the sidebar. I know how to use widgets and my other ones are working fine. I got the email widget to show up once by setting the visibility to one particular category, then I changed that setting and I can’t get it show up anywhere and it won’t even show if I go back and use the SAME settings that worked 30 minutes ago.

    I cleared all cache, cookies, history, saved web pages, everything; logged out; restarted the browser.

    I tried many visibility settings such as:

    – Not using any visibility settings
    – Taxonomy > All taxonomy pages
    – Author is > All author pages
    – Author is > Richard (me, the only author)

    Please note, I am NOT talking about the grey “+Follow” box in the lower right corner. I want a little box directly in the sidebar where people enter their email address, with the text “Enter your email address to follow this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email.” I want something where people don’t need to log in at WordPress; I hope this is the right widget.

    The problem happens with the Kubrick theme. Right this minute I am trying out a different theme and the email widget is working, but it’s not a theme I can use. I need the Kubrick theme.

    Is there not a way to edit posts here so I could put this in my main post?

    I’m not clear on why anyone would feel a need to use the outdated and retired old default Kubrick theme which is still used by so many sploggers running WordPress.org software.

    Note that when themes no longer support all WordPress.com features they are retired. Kubrick, is now retired and cannot be used on any newly registered blogs.     No. Only Staff and Moderators can edit ,delete or close threads on these support forums at WordPress.com.
