Subscribe Function is Not Working Properly
-
Hello,
I have added subscribe shortcode to the home page sticky and I tried to add it to the sidebar, but no matter what email address I use to test the function, I get a message when I click to confirm that says: Your subscription cannot be activated. It may have expired, or the email address you subscribed with is not attached to your WordPress.com account.
Is it true that the subscribers have to have a wordpress.com account? I just want our potential or current clients to be able to receive recent posts by email.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Howdy –
You don’t need to have a WordPress.com user account in order to follow a site that is on WordPress.com.
When folks use that
subscribebutton in the widget that you’ve added they’ll get a notification to confirm their subscription.Try creating a dummy email address and then signing up through the subscribe button. Use a different browser, or clear the cache on the one you’re in.

Thank you for your response. Though I used different browsers to sign up, the link was opening in my default browser which is the same browser I use for managing the website. So I changed the default browser and Voila!, everything worked fine. I managed to subscribe with a dummy account.
Now I wonder about all those pending subscriptions. Can I find them anywhere? I haven’t been able to so far.

You should be able to find them here:
https://wordpress.com/people/invites/mercuryerrands.comYou can click the Resend button, or click the
>button and revoke the invite to get rid of it.Let us know if you need more help!
