  The blog subscriptions feature of WordPress.com allows readers to signup and receive emails when new blog posts are published on any blog.

  That’s ONE way. They can also subscribe via blog surfer or RSS. Info on those are in the Support documents.

  Yet, another way is to set up email updates through feedburner. :)
