Subscribe to Topic/Category

Is it possible to offer subscribers the option to subscribe to specific blog topics/categories? For instance, my blog covers several topics, all of which may not be of interest to subscribers. So I’d like to offer readers the option of subscribing only to my book topic/category.

Yes. Anyone can subscribe to a feed for a specific WordPress Category or Tag on any WordPress blog. http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/category/categoryname/feed/

Thanks for the fast response! Love you guys. So I am a bit confused. My subscribers don’t do RSS feeds. They just want a simple email delivery when new posts are published. But they want that email subscription to be topic/category specific. Does this RSS widget accomplish that?

No it does not accomplish that. The email subscriptions are set up to deliver email for every post published and cannot be customized to send only some posts on some topics to some subscribers.

One more question: is it possible to just send out one email notification for all posts published within a certain timeframe — as opposed to sending out emails every time individual posts get published?

I’m sorry but that’s not the way this works. You don’t control the timing. Your subscribers choose how frequently they wish to receive the emailed copies of your posts.
