Subscriber Email notifications for new posts

    Hi there!
When subscribers to my site get email updates, they either get an abbreviated version of my post with a click link ‘Read more of this post’ and they are directed to the site, OR they receive the entire post including photos in the email.
Why are there these 2 versions of emails? I’d prefer the first option for all of them so they need to go to my site – is there a setting somewhere where I can set this as a default?
    Cheers

  • Hi there. Under Settings ->Reading, look for the option “For each article in a feed”. Set that to Summary and save the settings. This will cause the emails to only show the first 55 words of your posts.

It is strange that the emails are varying in format. Are you perhaps using different post formats? That’s the only thing I can think of that might have an influence on this.

    Awesome, thanks – I’ll give it a whirl! :-)

  • If the emails still vary in format after changing that setting, let us know.

I certainly will, thanks. I noticed ‘summary’ wasn’t chosen so I’ve updated that, but friends have told me that they were receiving both full and summary versions to date.
And, I’ve been using exactly the same post formats.

    thanks again
    :-)
