Subscriber post notifications not being sent
-
The email post notification for my latest blog post was not sent. There is a report indicating that it was sent, but I never received a copy in my email box which is included in the subscribers list and no one else received it either. All previous post notifications were successfully sent and received.

Hi –
I’ll be happy to take a look at this. What is the blog address? Can you share a link to the post in question?
-
Thanks for the offer. I need to explain a couple of things first. I host my own websites on my own server at home. There are two wordpress sites involved, one being a plain blog site, the other being a website for a neighborhood civic association. The wordpress plugins work for both.
From all outward appearances, both sites appear to have no problems. You can view either of them at blog site or website. It’s only when you go to the dashboard and look at the plugins that a problem appears. Plugins are supposed to have a block that allows you to activate, deactivate, change settings, or remove. Some do and some don’t. Last week all plugins had these options. The other day, several plugins notified me that updates were available. After updating them, the options block disappeared and was replaced with a single option to upgrade (no other option).
I am beginning to think there are two problems. The first is what started all this, namely that my blog has been spammed with email requests for subscriptions from mail.ru, list.ru, bk.ru and inbox.ru domains. I have blocked all outgoing mail so these requests do not result in malicious mail going elsewhere, but I cant’ selectively block incoming mail from specific domains so I attempted to deactivate email-subscribers & newsletters plugin by removing the folder from the content-plugins directory. At th
The second problem I am beginning think is related to infected browsers infected with adware. Both Firefox and Chrome have been infected. I removed all unknown cookies from Firefox and it now appears stable (until next time). I removed Chrome and re-installed it and it now appears stable.
When using Chrome to manage my plugins, most (not all) of the options have been returned and I can now activate, deactivate or remove. I haven’t yet checked it with Firefox as I wanted to finish this reply first (before another adware freezes my browser).
-
Now when I go to manage the plugins with the Chrome browser, all plugins have all options. When I go to manage the plugins in Firefox, 7 out of the 18 plugins do not show the control options.
-
Oops. Now the control options are missing from the same 7 plugins in both Chrome and Firefox. This seems to be a moving target as I have not touched anything.
-
Ah, gotcha. So, because neither of these are on the WordPress.com service I do not have access to them.
What you’ll want to do is either contact your host for assistance with your WordPress installation. Some are better than others about that – OR – head over to the community forums at wordpress.org/support/

Problem solved. There was a conflict between email subscribers & newsletters plugin and the disable email plugin which had been activated to prevent being spammed (which wasn’t helping because it was only blocking outbound mail).
The squirrely problem with the disappearing plugin controls appears to be a browser issue. Re-installing Chrome and Firefox, both of which had picked up some nasty adware, corrected the problem.
We should mark the problem solved at this point.
